How AJ Asmar Rose From a Farm to Dominate the Hair & Beauty Retail Market

Poverty has to be the number one problem facing many across the world. It’s by far the most significant challenge many have to face in pursuit of their goals and dreams. However, it’s inspiring to learn that all dreams are valid regardless of where you find yourself. Your current situation might challenge you when it comes to achieving your dreams, but it can never block you from your destiny. Some successful people have inspirational stories of rising against all odds to bring their dreams to life.

AJ Asmar is a classic example of a self-made entrepreneur who rose from grass to grace. The young boy from a town outside Jerusalem spent his early life as a young boy in an occupied territory of Palestine. But despite his humble background, AJ has always been a hardworking and ambitious individual. He had dreams of becoming successful in life and hopefully securing a better life for his family. His dream was given a lift when he was 15, after moving to the US, where he immediately started at Dream Hair and Beauty Supplies, a local family-owned beauty supply store.

AJ spent nearly a decade working at the store before he was promoted to manager at 25. Unfortunately, his inexperience as a manager saw him get sacked three years later. Though it was a significant setback, this also marked a turning point in his career. AJ terms it as the wake-up call that saw him unplug from the worker mentality, ushering his way into the entrepreneurial world.

“I decided to go to a smaller city and try out this ‘owning my own business’ concept since I had accumulated over 13 years of experience in this niche and was confident that I could do it because I had the skills,” AJ explains.

AJ established Hair Queen Beauty in July 2015, his first retail beauty supply store in Meridian, MS. His vast experience and expertise in this niche market were significant in helping him overcome the challenges on his path to success. Incredibly, AJ was able to generate millions in sales within his first year of operation. This established a solid foundation for the brand, and since then, Hair Queen Beauty has grown to become a leading store in the country.

“Now, 6 years later, I own 6 Locations in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama. I generate over 25M+ in sales every year and currently employ 100 people in my company. I’ve also launched my very own brand, Meltdown, a lace glue application system for wigs that is widely successful and is now being sold in 500+ retail stores throughout the US,” AJ adds.

AJ and his team are now working hard to make Hair Queen Beauty the dominant retailer in the ethnic hair and beauty space. He reveals his plans to consolidate this multi-billion dollar hair and beauty market while empowering his team to reach their personal, professional, and financial goals. Part of his goal is to launch the world’s largest hair and beauty supply store with an outrageous 155,000 sq. ft. brick-and-mortar location in Nashville, TN.

Here’s a statement from Asmar regarding his project “We just launched The Retail University Training Technology that’s going to impact millions of retail business owners globally and here’s how.

The Retail University is a Virtual Interactive Training Technology Platform that I developed to helped me scale my business and turn my self from a business operator to a business owner.

After over 20 years of retail experience I’ve realized that a lot of Retailers are leaving a lot of money on the table by not properly training managers and sales team.

AJ developed a new way train my team that is fitting for the new world we live in.

The Retail University Training Technology  is a virtual and interactive platform that has short videos that is accessible by your phone, laptop or iPad. It’s a program that would also have daily reporting sent via text or email so that business owners can hold their staff accountable. I believe that in-order to have an effective training you need these for Keys.

1. Good Content

2. Accountability

3. Repetition

4. Practice and Role play

The Retail University can also help the average person start a retail business, online or brick mortar and has a step-by-step strategies that I’ve used to scale my business from zero to 100 million.
