Costco shoppers get used to seeking out their old favorites — a juicy rotisserie chicken, a pallet of paper towels, enough coffee to fuel an entire dorm. But because the warehouse club’s selection is so huge, it’s easy to forget that Costco adds new products all the time.
There’s no reason to skip over the classic Costco items, but why not scoop up something new? Here’s a look at some of the items that are new to Costco in December 2021.
They are all available now unless otherwise noted, although some products are sold only online or only in warehouses.
David’s Cookies crate
Need a sweet holiday treat for that person on your list who has everything? Consider the David’s Cookies Winter Wonderland Crate — six pounds of assorted cookies and brownies, neatly packaged for easy gifting.
The cookie flavors include chocolate chunk, peanut butter with peanut butter chips and cherry white chip. There are also chocolate chip brownies, pecan brownies and blondies.
Deal alert: Thanks to manufacturer’s savings, you will save $25 if you order by Dec. 31 — while supplies last.
‘Frozen’ pajama set
Queen Elsa declared that “the cold never bothered me anyway,” but that’s not the case for all of us. So, as winter approaches, consider these “Frozen”-themed kids’ pajamas to help your little Elsa or Anna stay snug and warm. The four-piece cotton set (two tops, two bottoms) is machine-washable, and comes in sizes 2T to 7.
After all, as the quirky snowman Olaf sings in the movie, “Winter’s a good time to stay in and cuddle.”
Deal alert: If you plan to buy several pieces of clothing from Costco soon, consider buying them on the retailer’s website right now. As of Dec. 1, if you buy five qualifying clothing or shoe items online, you will save $25 total; buy 10 or more such items, and save $60.
Those “Frozen” jammies don’t come in grown-up sizes, so you may have to settle for a cozy blanket instead. The Berkshire Life EcoSoft Blanket comes in four colors (blue, gray, purple and teal) and two sizes (queen and king).
These blankets are made with a dry dye process, which means they require less water to make, and 1% of sales are donated to nonprofit organizations dedicated to environmental conservation. The blankets are machine-washable (gentle cycle) and can tumble dry (no heat).
Stoneware cake stand
A delicious dessert deserves a spectacular staging. This Gibson 12-inch cake stand offers a ruffled canopy skirting around the plate, plus a raised edge to keep the food in place. The stoneware piece is also dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup.
2022 ‘The Far Side’ calendar
Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, it may seem as if all of us are living in the bizarre world of “The Far Side,” Gary Larson’s single-panel comic strip that ran in newspapers from 1980 to 1995. So, what better holiday gift than The Far Side 2022 Off-the-Wall Calendar, featuring a different Far Side cartoon every day of the year?
Let’s all hope 2022 turns out to be less outlandish than life in the funny pages.
‘Atlas of the Heart’ book
You may have seen inspirational quotes from best-selling author Brené Brown featured on your social media or elsewhere. She writes often about courage, vulnerability and other heartfelt issues, and founded an online learning platform that offers classes based on her research.
In her latest book, “Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience,” Brown discusses the “emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human,” offering readers ways to “access a universe of new choices and second chances.”
