How Rebecca Perez’s Desire For Change Led Her To Create Goss Club: The Power of Community In Female Entrepreneurship

This Girl Boss is taking on the world with her commitment to creating a global platform that inspires and empowers women worldwide. From diving out of a plane to creating the world’s first women’s business magazine, which sold out all copies on newsstands in the first month, Perez is headstrong in her desire to create an ecosystem of women entrepreneurs.

When Rebecca Perez walks into a room, her zest for the empowerment of women immediately raises the energy. With an infectious and graceful spirit, it’s been quite the journey for the founder of GOSS Magazine and the author of 101 Ways To #BeGossy: a pragmatic business bible designed for women.

Perez has now started a new movement for women in business by establishing an esteemed inclusive club called GOSS Club that is opening memberships to bring these women exclusive content that reaches upwards of 10 figures in their businesses.

When asked about being an overachiever in an industry that is still traditionally owned and operated by men, Perez answers passionately, “I have a million things I want to get done in my life. While I’m a published author, I’m also a skydiver and Pilot. I have all these things under my belt. That’s just because I’m an overachiever. And I seem to also gravitate toward other overachievers.”

Perez has committed her life to assisting women in thriving and supporting their professional ambitions in every manner because she is at the forefront of women’s equality in every sector. Her desire to be a mentor to women led to the creation of the GOSS Club, which began as an online blog five years ago. Meanwhile, she had to step in as the guardian and caregiver for her 14-year-old sister when her parents moved out while she was a teenager due to tragic circumstances. She went from being a carefree teenager to a concerned parent figure in a split second.

In order to build a better life and motivate other women to rise from the ashes, she utilized the agony she felt from being abandoned and rejected by her own parents as fuel. Growing up under harsh realities, her need to grant women the resources to reach a stage in their lives where they are not just financially independent but also emotionally and physically secure in themselves led her to build a platform like GOSS Club. The resources and knowledge that Perez possesses as someone who has made her way into being one of the leading women in business have allowed her to create the next movement for women in business. In her words, “We are here to shine together, and we need each other to do so. Women need to join forces instead of creating barriers against each other.” This is her story, and it is the reason she is so dedicated to encouraging other women in doing the same.

Her reason for being able to envision a brand like GOSS? “My ‘why’ is so big; I never want to see any girl go through the same struggle we did. I want every woman to feel safe and be independent, especially when it comes to financial freedom, which is the most important thing,” she says. “I saw my parents, my mother, not having this, and I can’t imagine that being me. I want to inspire other women to move beyond that as well.”

Giving a voice to women in business by establishing such a ground-breaking platform, her life’s purpose is to encourage women to become their highest selves. Finding their own path and passion rather than striving to achieve what she does. She gives the message, “You were born to be creative and to create! Never settle for a life, a love, or a job that does not ignite your soul.”

On her website, she adds that the community she has built “are women who believe in challenging the status quo, breaking glass ceilings and reaching for the moon. Leading with love and compassion in all we do, we are here to build a better world for all of us to thrive in. We are business owners, thought leaders, and innovators of our industries. We are mothers, sisters, best friends, partners but foremost … We are women.”

When asked about what the GOSS Club member looks like? Perez chimes, “It’s a woman who is in her power; you can feel it when she walks into a room. She is following her passions and living her best life in all ways. She’s not burning out, nor is working super hard. She has a work-life balance. She can pursue all of the different paths that she chooses.”

The representation of women in business that includes working moms is an essential key ingredient to encourage women’s empowerment – and something that this Girl Boss is doing diligently using her entrepreneurship skills and knowledge. The GOSS Club has grown to be one of the biggest organizations for businesswomen under Perez’s chairmanship.

GOSS Magazine has more than 100,000 subscribers and is looking to expand its empire to support more women worldwide. Their goal is collaboration over competition.
