Tired of High Prices? These Retailers Are Now Offering Big Discounts

Here’s a nice end-of-summer surprise: The next time you visit a favorite retailer, some prices might be lower than you remember.

That’s a rare event in these days of high inflation. But some of the nation’s biggest retailers are now offering new deals to get people back into their stores.

According to a CNN report, they include:

  • Bath & Body Works
  • Best Buy
  • Gap
  • Target
  • Walmart

These retailers are now sitting on mountains of inventory — partly as a result of reduced demand due to inflation — and need to get rid of it. Their misfortune is a lucky break for consumers weary of seeing prices rise week after week.

In a recently issued press release, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon suggested that the retailer is looking to cut prices further on apparel and other general merchandise in an attempt to clear inventory.

In addition, the retailer has unveiled Walmart Restored, a program with its own section on the Walmart website that promotes refurbished products from Apple, Samsung, KitchenAid and other brands. According to Walmart:

“All products listed on the site have been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned, and if for any reason a customer isn’t satisfied, we offer 90-day free returns to help enable shopping with confidence.”

Meanwhile, Target has been reducing inventory by marking down bigger items, such as furniture, televisions and kitchen appliances, CNN reports.

Best Buy, Bath & Body Works and Gap also have unveiled more promotions to try to move inventory.
