Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.05%, while the index climbed 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the were Nestle India Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.98% or 792.10 points to trade at 27,372.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) added 2.40% or 68.25 points to end at 2,917.20 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) was up 2.29% or 23.50 points to 1,047.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.54% or 105.15 points to trade at 4,038.35 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.86% or 19.15 points to end at 1,013.05 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.51% or 26.10 points to 1,703.30.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.94% to 27,376.65, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.66% to settle at 1,293.75 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.29% to close at 1,485.00.

The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.98% to 1,012.40 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.43% to settle at 1,701.50 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.03% to 1,692.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1378 to 740 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2440 rose and 1324 declined, while 147 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.56% or 11.70 to $2,071.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.61% or 0.44 to hit $71.33 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.08 to trade at $77.07 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.24, while EUR/INR rose 0.30% to 92.14.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 101.06.
